This engaging close-up of an avalanche rescue dog in Switzerland has won the portrait and landscape category of the Dog Photography Awards 2022. The image was captured by photographer Dalia Fichmann who accompanied an avalanche rescue team into the mountains and lay inside an ice cave, letting the dog find her. The result is an engaging and extraordinary image. The Dog Photography Awards is an annual competition open to all photographers around the world. This year, the awards were divided into four categories: Portrait and Landscape, Studio, Action, and Dogs and People. The 2022 edition saw over 1400 applications from 50 different countries.
