TTArtisan has announced their new newest lens for Leica M mount; the TTArtisan M 90mm f/1.25 manual focus full-frame lens. Despite housing a Leica M mount, you’re not limited to just using Leica M mount cameras. This lens can be adapted to every mirrorless system out there through the use of adapters, including Fuji X, Canon RF, Fuji GFX, Nikon Z, Leica L, and Sony E.
The new lens is pretty beefy, weighing in at a hair over 1kg. As it is quite a large and heavy lens, it makes just about any mirrorless camera you could attach it to very front-heavy. So, the TTArtisan 90mm f/1.25 lens also features a built-in tripod mounting hole so you can shift that centre of gravity back a little for easier balancing on your tripod (or a gimbal, if you dare to try and film with it).
The 90mm focal length of this lens offers a 27° field of view with a very wide f/1.25 maximum aperture for shallow depth of field. TTArtisan says it offers smooth transition between the out-of-focus areas and the in-focus areas of your shots to create a “dreamy” picture. It features 11 elements in 7 groups with a 10-blade aperture and a minimum focus distance of 1 metre. It’s not an inexpensive lens as far as TTArtisan lenses go. But considering it’s designed for use on Leica (even if it can be adapted to a bunch of other stuff), it’s not that pricey at all given what it seems to offer. The lens is available to buy now for $770 from select TTArtisan distribution partners. It will become available at all of the usual retailers eventually. You can see more sample images shot with the lens on the TTArtisan website. [via Photo Rumors]
