Kodak recently made film photographers happy by announcing the Kodak Professional Gold 200 in 120mm format. And if you’ve ever wondered how they make it, Destin Sandlin of SmarterEveryDay will make you even happier. He recently visited the Kodak plant in Rochester, New York, and in his latest video, he’s taking you on a tour around the factory.
Thanks to Indie Film Lab, Destin got in touch with Kodak and asked them if he could film a factory tour. And as you can imagine – they said yes. Destin got to see a whole lot of the factory, even got to the basement where they mix the chemicals!
In Destin’s video, you’ll learn all about manufacturing and applying the three main components of film: the support, the light-sensitive coats, and the film packaging. Even though this video is almost an hour long – this is only the first part out of three. That’s how complex film production is. So, make sure to watch this part of the tour and stay tuned for the remaining two. [How Does Kodak Make Film? (Kodak Factory Tour Part 1 of 3) – Smarter Every Day 271 | SmarterEveryDay]
