Instagram users are reporting a new scam on the app. Reportedly, they have been getting messages from random Instagram accounts claiming to have edited their images “for hours.” The scam is targeted at everyone, and if you’re a photographer, pay special attention.
According to Yahoo!, Instagram users are getting messages that all have a similar script. The sender tells them that they have edited their photos, adding “this took me three hours to make.” The message also contains a link that allegedly leads to the edited images, but when you click on it – you’ll be requested to enter your Instagram login details. Needless to say – don’t do it. This is classic phishing scammed meant to steal your login credentials.
Most of us probably don’t open links in messages like that in the first place. However, photographers are usually not happy to hear that someone else has edited their work and may act impulsively. So, if you get a message like this, take a deep breath, read it again, and then delete it and forget about it. [via Yahoo!]
