When SYRP first kickstarted the Genie, we knew that it was something a bit different, but we had no idea how vast the echo system will be. The Slingshot is the third member to the Genie system (after the mini and bracket). The Slingshot builds on the same Genie motor to move between two points. Only instead of riding a slider, it is hang on a rope bridge. The slingshot comes with two mounting brackets which you can hang on trees or walls or bridges, and a big four-wheels cart that holds the Genie, a camera and an optional Genie mini. Once the brackets are mounted, the cart is placed on the two wires and is ready to go.
We were a bit concerned about placing a camera that high, and were relieved to find out that the slingshot has security in place both for the cart and for the camera so even if the cart loses the rope it will not fall down.
Lastly, the Slingshot is made for timelapse, I think it would be awesome if they had another version more suitable for live video. Cable cams can be a great solution in places where drones are not allowed to fly. You can get a SYRP slingshot for $989, and a full kit with a Genie ($789) and a mini ($249) will set you back around $2000.
