Core SWX has announced their new massive Apex360 batteries. These are 367 Watt Hour batteries that are capable of delivering up to 24 Amps of continuous power. There are two different variations of the Apex360. One is the APX-360V, which outputs at the standard 14.8v, which is suitable for most lights, as well as the high-voltage 29.6v APX-360HV variety for high-powered lighting systems. The 14.8v APX-360V comes with a standard V-Mount for plugging into all of the things you’d normally use V-Mount batteries for, while the 29.6v version has a Helix V-Mount. Both models come with a 2,000-cycle warranty, with a multi-sided LED gauge for checking the remaining charge and are built into a rugged housing to make sure they last during demanding location work.
As you can see from the video above, these batteries are absolute monsters. In fact, they hold so much charge that they’re more than three and a half times over the limit you can carry on a flight. So, these aren’t the sort of batteries you’ll want to travel with unless you’re sticking to the ground or sailing across the ocean in a boat. Both models are priced at $599, which works out to be $1.63 per watt hour. Core SWX says this makes them the lowest cost per watt hour battery in its class. The new batteries are built to be rugged. They are designed with a robust inner cell structure, which is then encased in a tough polycarbonate housing. This means that they should be able to handle pretty much anything you can throw at them (or throw them at?) on location. As well as the batteries themselves, the company has also released several fast and dual chargers for both 14.8v and 29.6v models. You can find out more about those on the Apex 360 website. The 14.8v APX-360V is available to pre-order now for $599, and the 29.6v APX-360HV is also available to pre-order now for $599. Both units begin shipping in January 2023.
