When the COVID-19 pandemic took over the world, we all switched to living our lives online. And during this switch, Canon introduced its EOS Webcam Utility Software – a free tool that lets you use your Canon camera as a webcam. Two years later, the free software gets some new features in the Canon EOS Webcam Utility Pro. But there’s a catch – if you want to use them, you’re going to have to pay.
The Pro version contains everything the free version does, plus some extra features only available to paying users. When you subscribe to Pro, you get multiple camera connections, wireless connectivity, greater camera and content control, high-res upscaling in full HD mode, a maximum frame rate up to 60fps, and the ability to output to multiple channels simultaneously. You can choose between different layout options, scene transitions, and even add your watermark.
It’s worth noting that you can use the basic features of the Pro software for free. This option still allows you to utilize several Canon EOS cameras as high-quality webcams. However, the paid subscriptions to EOS Webcam Utility Pro unlock many additional special features, including the ones mentioned above. You can choose between a monthly subscription for $4.99 per month and an annual subscription for $49.99 per year. Whichever you choose, Canon also offers a 30-day trial period. One limitation, though, is that the software is only available to customers in the U.S. So, if you’re a U.S.-based Canon user, head over to Canon’s website to learn more about the EOS Webcam Utility Pro software.
