As we all know, Leica is not really famous for its affordable prices. As a matter of fact, the company recently launched a $24K kit designed in collaboration with Lenny Kravitz. But now even us who can’t afford Leica gear can have at least something inspired by it: a wooden music box that costs mere $8.94. I personally enjoy seeing non-photographic products inspired by photo gear. My favorite ever must be this chocolate Nikon – it’s chocolate and it’s Nikon, what more could I wish for?...

While you can use a drone to take shots and videos (either from the sky or from the ground), there are some alternative uses for it as well. Lauri and Anni Vuohensilta, the couple you may know from the Hydraulic Press Channel, used their DJI Phantom Pro 4 to dry the laundry. On their other channel Beyond the Press, they published a video demonstrating how the airflow from the hovering DJI Phantom Pro 4 dries the laundry....

“Anyone could be a photographer; even a monkey could do it,” you’ll hear some people say. And while it will make you furious, it turns out that some monkeys actually want to become photographers. When Danish biologist Mogens Trolle was taking photos of monkeys in Indonesia, one of them approached his camera and it seems as if it wanted to take his job. Trolle was at the Tangkoko Nature Reserve, in Sulawesi, Indonesia....

There are some people whose work you follow that just makes you sit up and pay attention whenever they post something new. One such photographer is Andrew McCarthy who creates incredible images of the moon, often made from stacking tens of thousands (or more) individual photographs together. In his latest creation, Andrew took 100,000 photos of the moon to cut through our hazy and turbulent Earth atmosphere to see such colour and beauty, with an extremely impressive level of detail....

I was originally inspired to do this because when I had down it with a drone I had a troll complain that the images weren’t clear enough. In my response to this, I surmised a way, with the help of Dan Roberts, to be able to hang my camera from the ceiling and get clear images. Jan van IJken (previously) is known for his stunning videos of the microscopic world. In his latest work, Planktonium, he dives into the ocean and helps you see the unseen. This short film shows plankton up close in all of its variety and weird beauty. While these creatures are invisible to the naked eye, a microscope reveals just how beautiful and diverse they are. Jan used one to film them and reveal their beauty and delicate structures in the finest detail....

Sliders and motion control go together like bangers and mash. Or perhaps peanut butter & jelly for my American friends. Unless you just want a super quick grab shot, motion control makes work with a slider go so much more smoothly (pun intended). For timelapse, some form of motion control is pretty much essential for getting even and consistent slides or other camera movements. Photographer Tom Barnes shoot on location quite a bit. While he started like most of us using his eye glued to the viewfinder followed by a quick look at the LCD, he has now moved to tethered shooting almost exclusively. And while shooting tethered in the studio is a somewhat familiar and safe territory, shooting tethered on location can prove quite problematic: To solve all the problems and to avoid the accidental spill, Tom build an on-location tethered station that is a hybrid between a Peli case and Optimus Prime....

Sometimes Mother Nature creates such incredible scenes that seeing them photographed makes us think: “This can’t be real!” Daniel Kordan captured one of these photos that will make you look twice before you realize: no, it isn’t a photo manipulation. It’s nature’s creation lit by a flare and photographed in a single frame. In this image, the fire meets water and ice, and Daniel told us a bit about how and where he captured it....

The New York Skyline is probably one of the most fluid in the world. Its outline is ever-changing with new buildings going up and old ones being replaced on a regular basis. Photographer and filmmaker Joe DiGiovanna spotted this from the window of his apartment in Weehawken, New Jersey, and decided that he wanted to capture it in timelapse. French fellow timelapse photographer Emeric Le Bars went to meet with Joe to interview him about the project....

Content Aware Fill is one of those features of Photoshop that many users love to hate. So much so that quite a few of us have called it Content Aware Fail since it was first introduced in CS5. As drones are becoming more accessible and popular, creatives keep finding new ways to incorporate them into their work. Film director and photographer Oliver Astrologo experimented with an LED light and a drone to create a trippy, captivating video. On 23 May, SpaceX successfully launched its first 60 Starlink satellites into orbit. Amateur astronomer Marco Langbroek managed to catch them on camera, and he filmed a spectacular view of the “train” of satellites orbiting around the Earth. Shortly after the launch, on 24 May, SpaceX confirmed that all 60 satellites had been successfully deployed. The goal of this ambitious project is to provide global internet coverage from space....

David Schwimmer (that nerd from Friends) learned that one of every three women in the US got sexually harassed at work and decided to take action. He produced a six-par PSA series about sexual harassment, but the one I want to focus on is the photographer one. I think that this is quite an obvious one, and obviously, the photographer is going waaaaay over the line. Usually out advice would be to make sure that there would be someone else on the set, but obviously, this did not help here....
